Tom Rapp Evans Pumping Power - Introduction

This building was constructed by Tom Rapp to represent an early 1900s oil well pumping power housing an 8 hp Evans walking beam oil pump.  At one time, these installations were very common in the Butler, PA, area. It actually pumps a shallow water well located directly behind the building.  The pump provides cooling water for the engine as well as a water supply for nearby displays.
